Energy Company Obligation funding has been accessed for the installation of PV photovoltaic panels on the roofs of all 29 properties at Richmondhill Court in Aberdeen. PV photovoltaic panels are the innovative technology which converts sunlight into electrical energy and are considered a renewable and sustainable source of energy which help move our properties to become more energy efficient and should help reduce the tenants’ bills.
Castlehill will also utilise the funds to install Allume Energy ‘Solshare’ Technology on the roof of the flatted blocks and this will provide electricity for use in each property and help reduce energy bills for tenants. This work is ongoing with an external contractor, and we are hoping that it will be complete by end October.
Matthew MacAulay says, ‘CHA is committed to making its housing stock as energy efficient as possible with the internal and external funding streams that we have available. A delivery plan to meet Net Zero is being developed that will involve a variety of renewable solutions for our tenants.’
If the PV photovoltaic panel works well CHA will investigate which of our schemes could benefit for similar projects in the future as we are committed to meeting our net zero obligations as set out by the Scottish Government subject to funding availability
