Be aware of recent scams!

The Association is aware that there has been a spate of phone and doorstep scams related to housing repairs recently. Specifically where some one calls saying they work for the local council or a housing maintenance department

These are increasing and are usually scams. There have also been cases where they say they work for a ‘social housing repairs forum’. Again, these are not genuine. They are trying to obtain householders’ personal details.

We would advise:

Don’t deal with cold callers. If you receive an unexpected phone call from someone saying they are from your local council or Castlehill, and you are suspicious, take a name, hang up, clear the line and call your councils phone number or Castlehill using 01224 625822 to verify that the call was genuine. Castlehill tenants will have been given the names of their Housing Officer or Property Services Officer. No genuine caller will be upset that you double check.

It is important that you limit any details given to a cold caller and don’t agree to make any payments over the phone or to transfer money.

The Association will always inform you in advance of any visits.
