Digital switchover – Your home, Your choice

Scotland is in the process of changing to a digital telephone network. This change affects
everyone. The change will impact phone and telecare services which will no longer be delivered
through the current analogue, copper line phone system. This means phone and telecare
services in the future will be delivered in the same way as the internet.

The Government deadline is December 2025 and you may notice changes being made
in your area while providers begin the switchover process. Within CHA schemes there are systems which are dependent upon a traditional phone line. None of these will work once analogue ceases to exist, therefore there will have to be significant changes to equipment around the scheme as part of the digital switchover.

Property services and selected contractors will be upgrading equipment in lifts, connected door entry
systems, fire prevention equipment and traditional phone lines in order to ensure that they all will
work properly when the switch over occurs.

Castlehill is committed to being transparent and we will let tenants know at least 2 months in advance when work will be starting within their scheme. This will be in the form of a letter, so please look out for it.

CHA will be undertaking decommissioning work at our schemes during 2025. Upgrades to fire panels, door entry systems and any lifts will be undertaken to transfer these essential services
onto the digital system.

The hardwired telecare equipment will be removed from your property and the telecare service
charge you currently pay to CHA will reduce. Should you want to use a Telecare system they would be provided by your local authorities. Information on how to go about arranging this is available, please see below:
