Apply to Terminate a tenancy in event of tenant death

If you wish to end a tenancy on behalf of a deceased tenant you must contact the Housing Officer to get the relevant paperwork. A tenancy can only end 28 days from the date we receive this signed termination form.  Once we have received this we will write to you to confirm the exact date.

We will inspect the property to make sure it can be re-let in accordance with our tenant-approved Letting Standard.  We will do this as soon as we can, once we have received your termination form. If housing benefit or Universal Credit is connected to the tenancy, it will stop on the day the tenancy ends, whichever is soonest.  The Housing Officer will confirm this to you by letter.
